Cameron's Game Last Night

Alright, well I said I would capture some footage of Cameron playing baseball last night and I did. Since we were there for three hours I managed to get a really great hit. He hit a double, the ball actually hit the wall of the field -- it was so exciting. You will be able to tell how exciting by the voice in the background -- Yes that is me screaming with excitment -- and that is what I sound like all summer long!! He bought a new bat, all by himself, and was so excited to use it last night for the first time. He did awesome with it. He had another great game and they won both games. So check out the video and enjoy!!!

Time Flies!

Well it's official -- Sophia is signed up for kindergarten. Registration took place last night and and today. We were going to go last night after preschool parent teacher conferences, but those took a little longer than expected so we went today. The conference went well. She is doing good in preschool (there were some surprises but not others). She is so excited to go to school next year. I on the other hand, am not. I can't believe she is going to kindergarten. Time sure did fly by really, really fast with her. This will be the only year Cameron is in school with one of his siblings! I am glad he will be there for her first year -- to help her if she needs it. I believe we are going to put Duke in a three year old preschool, it meets two days a week for two hours. It is at the same school as Sophia goes to right now. The teachers are awesome! They told us last night we should really sign him up because they think he is ready and would LOVE to have him in their class -- well who wouldn't?!?! It will make me sad, but I think he needs to go to get some of that experience since he has never been in daycare, where Sophia and Cameron were both in daycare. So my life as a full time mom looks like it is on the changing cycle. I guess all I can do is hang on!!

BUNCO!!

We heard that lots last night. Bunco is a dice game that 16 women play. It is a lot of fun. You scream BUNCO if you all three dice you rolled match the number of the round you are on...for example you start out rolling one's -- you get a point for every one you roll -- if you are lucky (which I have only been once since I started playing and it was last night at my house :-)) and you roll all three dice and all one's come up you yell BUNCO! Some people are super lucky like Linda and get three bunco's in one night!! Anyway hard to explain in words. I enjoy playing! Well I am off to babysit for the day. My neighbor is in Florida (lucky dog) and I am watching her little boy Bennett, Duke is very excited -- they are good friends :-) I also have my adorable neice Lauren today so the kids will be busy playing with each other!

Swing Batter Batter Swing.....

As most of you know Cameron plays a lot of baseball. He is on a travel team that we started last summer. We have a great time. The parents are fun and the kids have a really fun time together. Those kids have so many great memories from last summer that we are so excited for Cameron to build on those this summer. Well despite the weather we started to get into the swing of things (no pun intended!!) last week. He plays an indoor league with the team he plays on all summer. Last week they won, and Cameron did very well. Tonight they won again!! Cameron had a wonderful night catching -- I love watching him behind the plate he does such a good job!! He loves playing baseball and we love to watch him. I will update a picture or even a video of him next week. He has a double header so I should be able to get some footage of him. Just some information for those of you who read this......I am hosting bunco ( a game that 16 women play ) tomorrow night and I am in the middle of making the food while writing this (not a good idea) -- well I was melting white chocolate to dip oreo's in ---AND I BURNT IT!!!! Yes that's right....Oh crap now I have to get more tomorrow -- I hope these things can get done by then! I know I can multi-task but apparently not tonight.

Fun...fun...at the Tundra Lodge

So we surprised the kids on Sunday with a trip to the Tundra Lodge. We have been so shacked up lately because of this lovely weather we have had we thought we would let the kids burn off some energy. They had no idea we were going -- we blind folded them until we got there (picture to the left). They had fun and so did we. It was a nice afternoon out of the house :-)

What a night!

So this adorable little boy above, our son Duke, has these things called night terrors. They are a parents worst nightmare (well close). He has had them for about a year. It all started on his second birthday at my inlaws house. He hadn't taken a nap and he was really tired. So I put him to bed, he fell asleep, and a short time after he woke up screaming. His eyes were open but they looked dark and blank. It took us forever to get him to calm down. He kept asking for me but didn't realize that I was right there. It was so scary!! Come to find out he was having a night terror. With this sleep disorder a person's sleep is disrupted by a frightful event (not a dream). They are not awake, but their eyes are open and they lash out in fear. They are completely inconsolible. We have been throught this a few times within the last year.

Well Duke decided to revisit this stage of sleep last night. I had just put the kids to bed and fell asleep along side Duke. Well he woke up crying, and the cry just became this uncontrollable scream. I took him into our bed and he started his routine of arching his back, eyes open (but dark and blank), and rolling all over the bed. After a quite a few minutes I realized he was having a night terror. It is the most scariest and helpless this in the world to experience. There was absolutely nothing Joe or myself could do for him. After about a half hour of this he finally calmed down. He fell back to sleep and a short time later he did it again! And then a third time -- this time was pretty scary as well. This was the first time it happened more than once. After a few hours of stress he finally went to sleep, but was extremely restless all night.

Now here he is playing playdough at the table like nothing happened. What a night -- I really hope this doesn't happen (at least any time soon).

Here I go....

Well I thought I would give this a try! Maybe this will be therapeutic for me...we'll see. Anyway I am a mother of three wonderful children, Cameron 9, Sophia 4, and Duke 2. I am married to an amazing guy named Joe! We added our first pet to our family this summer...a dog named Papi (pronounced poppy) -- he is a golden retriever. We just bought a house last March and are loving where we live!
